Interesting things are indeed interestingSeptember 18, 2025 The exhibition "Interesting Things" at the Malachi Gilmore Hall over the weekend of September 13 and 14 lived up to its name. The idea was to collect objects from around Oberon that might not necessarily form part of a curated exhibit devoted to a single topic but which gave visitors the opportunity to think about what goes on (and has gone on) around the town. One part of the exhibition was the Jenolan Memory Project, where people are invited to share their favourite memories of Jenolan Caves.
There was a collection of items from the Oberon Museum, some example of local geology including samples of the sorts of minerals found in the local streams, a video of a platypus swimming from Oberon Citizen Science Network, some artworks by local artists, some historical maps. And a musical instrument made from sleigh bells that visitors were encouraged to play. Oberon Matters walked around pointing the camera at things.
Keep a watch on the What's On page here or the Malachi's web site for future events at the hall.
