Firies climb for MND

September 4, 2025

On August 29, members of Oberon RFS spent the afternoon climbing and descending the 1.1 kilometre Furber Steps near Katoomba to raise money for research into Motor Neurone Disease.

Here is what they had to say:

Well it was tough! it was wet and it was definitely cold but we got it done. We set out to raise $5000 as a team for Motor Neurone Disease. We flew past that goal and raised an outstanding amount of $9181 and it's all thanks to you! We would not have been able to achieve these goals without the love and support from our community. We set a goal of 11 laps and we successfully completed that goal finishing at 11:30pm Friday night.

A massive effort, made even better by raising almost twice the target. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Oberon Matters had intended to go to the bottom of the climb for some photos, but the $61 price of a ticket on the Scenic Railway caused a change of plans.
