Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of nightJuly 31, 2025 Herodotus might have been talking about the residents of Burraga in The Persian Wars. The evening of Saturday, July 26, was cold, windy, rainy and sleety and the roads were infested with wombats the size of small cars hiding around corners and just over crests, but that didn't stop a crowd assembling at the Burraga Sports & Recreation Club for Christmas in July. The weather conditions might have kept some people at home but everyone who turned up had a good feed and a good time. Oberon Matters did the marsupial slalom to get there for a few photos.
I couldn't be everywhere at once, so here are some photos taken by Helen Hayden.
Special thanks have to go to Helen Hayden for the dessert trifles, Marilyn Clayton and Latoya Williams who worked all day to make this a fantastic night, Barbara Pearce and Rod Williams who kept the drinks coming at the bar, and of course Michelle Williams who did the shopping and decorating. Oberon Matters left before the karaoke started so that people weren't forced to run home early with their hands over their ears.
