Black Springs kicks up its heels

March 27, 2025

Saturday, March 22, was a big day in Black Springs. There were activities all day as part of Oberon's Field f to Forest Festival, starting with mass at the Catholic church, a tour of St Alban's "tin shed" Anglican church, guided heritage tours around the area, a community lunch and finally an old-time dance at the Black Springs Community Hall.

Oberon Matters made it along for the dance, where a good time was being had by all. The band consisted of Adrian Perry and Mal Voerman, appearing as In The A.M. with vocalist Kurt Booth and some locals on backup instruments. Soloist Graham Toole brought out the country music.

There was a feeling that calling it an "old time country dance" might have discouraged the TikTok generation, but there was enough variety in the music to keep everyone happy and up on the dance floor.

So lets look at some pictures.
