A tale of two markets

February 13, 2025

There are two monthly Farmers' Markets close to Oberon - at the Oberon Showground on the first Saturday and at the Tarana Fire Shed on the fourth Sunday of the month.

They are very different types of shows. Tarana is more like the traditional farmers' markets, with lots of local producers having stands to show off what they grow or what they do with what other people grow. And there is always a band performing. Oberon features some of the same but also includes a large variety of crafts and artisan products.

Does this difference make one better than the other? A wise person once said "A difference that makes no difference isn't a difference at all". They do different things, and comparing them is like asking which is better - cheesecake or merlot. Both are great days out, you will find things to enjoy and buy at both. When you are coming home you might remember the first words of a famous novel: "It was the best of times".

A walk around the Tarana markets pointing the camera at things.

And the same thing at Oberon.

The dates for coming markets can always be found at the What's On page.
