Teddy Bears' Picnic

November 21, 2024

Sunday, November 17, saw the Teddy Bears' Picnic descend on the Oberon Community Centre, part of the Oberon Outdoor Festival. The original plan was to have it at the Oberon Common, but predicted wet weather forced a change of venue. This didn't affect the fun in any way as there was plenty of room for all the activities.

Activities for the kids included face painting, colouring in and the sort of races that are featured at any event like this - egg and spoon, sack race and the three-legged race to test teamwork. The sack race used the plastic bags used for farm supplies rather than the traditional hessian bags, so the sound of massed crackling added to the atmosphere. The three-legged races were notable for having all teams reach the finish line without anyone tripping their partner. And who won the races? Who cares?

As well as activities for the young 'uns, there was a coffee cart outside to keep the mums and dads suitably caffeinated to keep up with the kids.

It was exhausting trying to keep up with the youngsters.

Here's a bit of the action
