Let's go camping

September 19, 2024

It was a weekend when except for the Council elections not much was going on around Oberon, so Oberon Matters drove around to some free camping spots in the area and pointed the camera at things.

These are all what are called "primitive camping sites", so there is no power or running water. You will need to bring your own water and firewood (gathering firewood in state forests and national parks is prohibited) and something to make light for night time. Mobile phone coverage is either nonexistent or very patchy.

Camping is also allowed everywhere in state forests (the ones with the pine trees) except where signs prohibit it (usually logging or fire maintenance) and you can't light fires.

Pets are allowed everywhere except Boyd River in Kanangra Boyd National Park, but please keep dogs on a lead.
