One step at a time

August 22, 2024

Sunday, August 18, saw a small group assemble in the Oberon Community Centre for the monthly Walk'n'Talk For Life meeting. The purpose of these meetings is to raise awareness of the problem of suicide and to give anyone touched by suicide a chance to talk about it.

The guest speaker this month was Stephen Seymour who arrived by Zoom from Orange. Stephen runs regular "Survivor to Survivor" meetings where he tells his story of coming back from the edge.

The Walk'n'Talk meetings have free food supplied or sponsored by local businesses. This time, attendees were treaded to some very nice sandwiches, cakes and pastries donated by Pick of the Bunch, and everyone would like to thank them for their generosity.

Yum!!

The next Oberon Walk'n'Talk will be at 11:30 on September 22 at the Oberon Common. As Spring will be well underway by then the weather should be perfect for returning to open air meetings. Keep watching What's On for any changes.
