Oberon RSL Sub Branch gets to renovate the wall

July 4, 2024

There has been some good news at the Oberon RSL Sub Branch. They have received a grant of $17,000 under the NSW Government Community Building Partnership program.

A cheque presented by Member for Bathurst Paul Toole means that the War Memorial Wall out the front of the Oberon Military Museum in Oberon Street can receive a much-needed makeover.

The wall features a brick pedestal with a light on top and several brass dedication plaques commemorating various conflicts attached. Behind this is a brick wall painted yellow, with service badges attached, and a flagpole.

"The War Memorial Wall is a vitally important part of the Oberon streetscape and was dedicated back in 2003," Mr Toole said.

"However, the ravages of two decades being exposed to the harsh local climate have taken their toll on the monument, but thanks to this funding the wall can now be rebuilt and given a new lease of life."
