A new place to eat in town June 20, 2024
After too many years sitting empty, the restaurant at 131 Oberon Street (on the corner of Ross Street) has reopened, this time with a Turkish theme. King of Kebabs is owned and managed by Eda Onq and her husband Emrah.
Edo had the following to say about opening in Oberon. "Oberon has always had a special spot in our hearts. We love the people, the simplicity of life here and just knew deep down we had to open a King of Kebabs. Many of our customers have told us "it's exactly what Oberon needed" and we couldn't agree more. "We wanted our customers to experience the Turkish culinary experience. We wanted every single person walking through those doors to feel the warm welcome just like how they'd be greeted in Turkey and leave with only good memories after enjoying their food. "We are a family run business and everything is prepped in house, all our ingredients are as fresh as you can get and are sourced from local businesses from Oberon." And what do the customers like? "Our chargrill plates, gozlemes, kebabs, pizzas, pides and gozlemes have been the biggest hit here not to mention the baklavas served with Turkish tea and coffee." Some photos inside.
And here's a few reviews from Facebook.
The food critic from Oberon Matters tested out the pizza offerings and can report that a small supreme pizza with anchovies was served promptly and was delicious. As there are three pizza outlets literally within a pizza box throw from each other, continued quality should be assured.
King of Kebabs is at 131 Oberon Street, . Opening hours are 7am to 9pm every day.
