BIG GOALS FOR OBERON HOSPITAL AUXILIARY!

On 3 August, I held my mobile office at the Oberon Library.

It was fantastic catching up with community members to discuss a wide range of issues facing Oberon and surrounding areas.

One of the meetings was with Rhonda, Sarah and Therese from the incredible Oberon Hospital Auxiliary.

Fresh off the opening of the wonderful new Carers Retreat and Cuddle Bed, this dedicated group already has their sights set on their next big goals - including another multi-function cuddle bed and exploring options for a sensory garden space!

Unfortunately, they’re running into a few bureaucratic roadblocks.

I’ll be pushing to bring some common sense to the table so we can get these vital initiatives moving for our patients, families and visitors.

I couldn't be prouder to serve as Patron for such an inspiring group!

CENSUS is on Tuesday, 11 August!

The Census gives us a vital snapshot of our nation and helps plan for essential services like local roads, schools, healthcare, and community infrastructure right across our region.

How to complete it: Households will receive instructions in the mail on how to complete the Census online. PLEASE NOTE: You will not receive a paper form in the mail, unless you specifically request one. If you know where you’ll be on Census night, you can complete it as soon as your instructions arrive. Everyone in Australia is required to participate in the Census.

Need Help? The Census is run directly by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), our electorate offices cannot access individual records and do not have paper forms. For help, paper form requests, or general enquiries, please reach out to the ABS directly:

PRICE PAIN AT THE PUMP RETURNS

With the fuel excise cut now over, petrol prices are are going to surge to even higher levels.

ThThis is a massive issue for country people who have to travel far greater distances than those in the cities.

I’m calling on the Federal Government to:

Immediately slash the fuel tax; and
Pass my Fair Fuel Price Bill which would bring back federal fuel price controls like we had during World War Two.

Skyrocketing fuel prices combined with the closure of the Great Western Highway are strangling the economic life out of our region and the government needs to act with urgency.
