Happy 54th Birthday Oberon Inner Wheel Club!
We had a wonderful changeover in Oberon recently!
The Club is a small but powerful force for good in the Oberon area, raising a very impressive amount of funds for worthy causes both here and internationally!
Congratulations to outgoing President Melita Braun and her team for an outstanding year of service and all the best to new Presiodent Kerry Foley and the new executive for the year ahead.
I'm looking forward to the next Inner Wheel Trivia and Dance Night!
FIREARM BUSINESSES HANGING BY A THREAD
I recently met with Jeff from a local Firearm business, who told me the new gun laws have made trade the quietest he has seen in 28 years.
He told me that 70% of gun shops are likely to go under, with many not predicted to last past Christmas.
City people and lawmakers have no appreciation for why people need firearms in country areas - and it's largely to keep food on our supermarket shelves.
The Government should be going after the illegal firearms, the crooks and the terrorists and working out how people on a terrorist watch list that had travelled to extremist hotspots slipped through the net and were able to carry out these horrific crimes.
Right now, there's no word on when this buyback is coming, no money in the budget and zero plan. It has left small businesses battling to survive and hanging on by a thread.
What is the plan here State and Federal governments? This is not good enough.
