Your Federal Member's Community UpdateJuly 16, 2026
Had a great time catching up with the Shed community recently for a long lunch... which then rolled into an afternoon tea! We enjoyed a delicious winter warmer meal - followed by a spectacular Pavlova and ice cream. It was a wonderful feast, thanks to the amazing volunteer chef, Shirley Parker. We had a great discussion - with no topic off the table. While enjoying the warmth of the wood fire we shuffled into afternoon tea with a cuppa and a chocolate cake I brought along for the occasion. Oberon Men's Shed is such a vital part of the community and growing from strength to strength.
So much so, the Oberon Men's Shed is outgrowing its current space and is looking to work with the community to build a new home in the coming years. It will take some major fundraising and support, but they are already getting started. Coming up on 26th November 2026, the Oberon Men's Shed is planning to host a vital community presentation on Mental Health, focused on anxiety, depression and suicide prevention. Stay tuned for more details on a venue and times closer to the event. Let's get behind our Men's Shed as they build a stronger, healthier community for everyone! Finally, thank you for your hospitality - I'll be back again!! BACKING AUSSIE MANUFACTURING Aussie jobs, Aussie ingenuity and Aussie manufacturing must come first! Right now, billions of taxpayers' dollars are spent on massive government contracts, but too often, local businesses get passed over for overseas alternatives. We've got to be supporting Australian industry and backing in local workers! That is why I seconded the Local Industry Preference Bill in Parliament alongside Dai Le MP, Independent Federal Member of Fowler - Western Sydney.
Right here in the Central West, we have incredible engineering and manufacturing firms proving that we can still make things in country Australia. If we are spending Australian taxpayers' money, it should be backing our regional fabricators, our food processors, and our primary producers. That's why I fought to expand the Future Made in Australia legislation to include our fantastic local food processing and agriculture sectors - supporting local food manufacturers in Lithgow, Manildra, Blayney, Orange, Bathurst and across the Central West! It's time to get behind our manufacturers, our food processors, and our primary producers. I back this bill to the hilt! Authorised by Andrew Gee, MP, Suite 1/179A Anson Street, Orange NSW 2800
