Millionth Acre Recreation Area This small site, maintained by the Forestry Corporation, was established in 1970 to commemorate the millionth acre of radiata pine (Pinus radiata) to be planted in Australia. Located on the corner of Jenolan Caves and Duckmaloi Roads near Hampton, its primary purpose is a picnic area and it's also used for people hunting mushrooms in Hampton State Forest but there is some room for overnight camping. If you are planning on looking for mushrooms, remember those old sayings - "All mushrooms are edible, some only once" and "Some mushrooms will feed you for a few hours, others for the rest of your life". Before going out with your harvesting knife and collection bag, talk to the people at the Oberon Visitor Information Centre about what mushrooms are safe to eat. You can see a brochure from the Forestry Corporation here, but the Oberon VIC has a video and more information.
