(Advertisement) Poster Competition: Live Local, Love Local, Support Local
The Oberon Business and Tourism Association Inc (OBTA) is keen to see local businesses appreciated and supported by the local population. The organisation has recently launched a Support Local Campaign, which is starting with a competition to design a poster for shop fronts, with the theme of Live Local, Love Local, Support Local. Shop Local Vouchers will be awarded to the winners. As this economic cycle rolls on, the media is full of grim news about how people are "doing it tough". Oberon businesses are in the same boat. The main street of Oberon boasts an amazing selection of shops, given the size of the town. Two supermarkets, two butchers, three real estate agencies, a large pharmacy, a number of cafes and fast food outlets, plus a selection of gift shops and two antiques and collectibles shops. A lot of these shops employ local people, while also offering training opportunities for the young people of the area. These same shop owners are the ones who generously support local sporting teams, charities, town celebrations and good causes. Beyond the main street, the range of both large and small businesses is impressive. Many of these businesses regularly contribute to the organisations and fundraising events of Oberon. The Support Local Campaign will focus on encouraging locals to consider buying local first, rather than jumping in the car to drive to a larger centre. Our town’s future will be assured when locals spend their dollars in Oberon. Go here for details about the poster competition. Theme Objective Competition Categories
